Paper manufacturing is a complex process composed of multiple processing steps. The raw materials for manufacturing paper are various fiber materials, such as virgin pulp,  waste paper, wood, non wood (such as straw, wheat straw, sugarcane bagasse, bamboo, cotton stalks, etc.), phloem fibers (hemp, mulberry bark, goji bark, etc.), waste cotton (or cotton short fibers), and other fibers. These fiber raw materials first need to be chopped and steamed to make pulp. Due to the different composition and chemical composition of these fiber materials, there are different pulping processes. The pulp manufacturing process is the use of chemical or mechanical methods, as well as a combination of both, to dissociate the fibers in these fiber raw materials, and then purify or refine them into natural or bleached pulp.
